Why Vote for Sean MacFarland?
Sean MacFarland is a veteran with 37 years of military service in peace and war and 4 years of executive leadership in industry and he is a proven leader. He led all Coalition forces against ISIS from 2015-2016, pushing the terrorists back across Iraq and Syria. He commanded two large Army installations in Texas, Fort Bliss and Fort Hood (now Cavazos), and knows how to build for the future. Wherever he was stationed, Sean made it a top priority to improve the quality of life for the Soldiers, their families, and the Civilians entrusted to his care. In 2016, he was recognized as one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People. As a problem solver with strong, conservative values, Sean is committed to serving the community of Bulverde and making a positive difference in the lives of its residents.
Sean's Story
Sean MacFarland is a retired Army Lieutenant General, having served as the Commanding General of 1st Armored Division and Fort Bliss, Texas and then III Corps and Fort Hood, Texas. He is a decorated combat veteran with extensive leadership experience, having served in many different positions in many different places throughout his career. He is a graduate of West Point and holds several masters degrees, to include one in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Tech. After retiring from the military, Sean became the Vice President of Weapon Programs at General Atomics' Electromagnetic Systems Group where he led a team of engineers and scientists to develop cutting-edge technology for the U.S. Army. While commanding Fort Hood (now Cavazos), he and his wife, Lynda, decided that they would someday settle in the Hill Country. In 2022 they built their forever home in Bulverde.

As a candidate for Bulverde City Council Place 6, Sean MacFarland is committed to ensuring the community develops in a sustainable manner, with the necessary infrastructure and services to provide a great quality of life for all residents of Bulverde, new and old, while retaining its unique Hill Country charm.
Economic Growth
Economic growth is essential for the long-term success of Bulverde, but it is important that we shape it a way desirable to its residents. It will benefit everyone to attract new businesses and support local entrepreneurs. A strong economy is the key to creating jobs and improving the quality of life for all residents of Bulverde.
Quality of Life
Our economic development must be balanced by the importance of preserving the natural beauty of Bulverde. Our growth must be sustainable, with sufficient resources (water, energy, transportation) for both residential and commercial use and quality schools. It should also include recreational opportunities, such as parks and trails which we know are needed for a good quality of life.
Transparency and Accountability
Community engagement is essential for the success of local government. Residents must have a voice in the decision-making process and their concerns both heard and addressed. Good governance demands transparency and accountability. The city council should ensure the government operates in an open and honest manner, and take the appropriate action when it doesn't.
